Un ami anglosaxon s'interroge sur l'origine de notre C cédille. Je lui ai avoué mon ignorance, mais l'un d'entre-vous a peut-être quelque lumière à offrir sur la question. >>>>> Forwarded message from Gerry Snyder <<gcsnyd@xxxxxxxx> In the newsgroup comp.fonts there has been a thread on cedilla and undercomma. I posted that the French "c cedilla" started as "ce", where the "e" was added before "a", "o", or "u" to keep the "c" sounding like "s", with the "e" getting smaller with time and eventually turning into the cedilla. I was asked for a reference, and I have none other than my high school French class of many years ago. If my history is correct, could you perhaps provide a reference? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
