                Microsoft and Adobe Announce OpenType Developers
Conference

                September 12, 1997 (Redmond) -- Microsoft and Adobe have
announced that the OpenType Font Jamboree (Developers Conference) will
take place on October 27 and 28, in Redmond, Washington.  The Jamboree
will be of primary interest to companies and individuals who create
fonts. Microsoft and Adobe will cover details for producing high-quality
OpenType fonts, as well as application and system support of OpenType
fonts, font embedding, authentication, licensing, and other related
topics. Presentations will be given by members of the typography,
systems, and applications groups from Microsoft and Adobe, as well as
several ISV's. Microsoft and Adobe expect several dozen foundaries,
ISV's, and OEM's to attend.

                The conference is free of charge. The invitation and
agenda for the OpenType Font Jamboree can be found at

                Microsoft is also scheduling training for those
typographers wishing to use the Microsoft hinting tool, Visual TrueType.
Space is limited for the first training session, following the Font
Jamboree, but others will be held in the near future. Please send mail

training.
