[Alain] It would be nice to check *directly* with countries like Portugal
which already had special formatting requirements before... not wait for
their tacit (presumed) approval (as I have seen in some committees), but
ask them explicitly...

I'm wondering if in the latter case, for example, they would prefer to have
a formatting like « 1 234?56 » that corresponds to their typographic
tradition during the time they were using the escudo.

It can be accomodated in 14652, and we have no 15897
registrations that covers tis at this point.
