Je me doute que peu de colistiers fréquentent régulièrement
Londres, mais je viens de recevoir un message de Justin Howes
annonçant des conf.-débats...
Voici le programme :

Tuesday, 20 March 2000, 6.45 pm
>From Pirelli Calendars to Prayer Books
Talk by Derek Birdsall RDI
Derek Birdall is one of the most distinguished graphic designers
working in Britain today. Designer of the first Pirelli Calendar
in 1964, his work has included the Monty Python books, a large
number of Penguin book jackets, and The Independent Magazine
(1988). His design for the new prayer book of the Church of
England, Common Worship: Services and Prayers for the Church of
England (2000), has been widely acclaimed. There will be last
chance before and after the talk to see the exhibition in the St
Bride Printing Library's exhibition room of Derek Birdsall's
designs for Common Worship.

Tuesday, 8 May 2000, 6.45 pm
Zero: Hans Schleger, a life of design
Talk by Pat Schleger, marking the publication by Lund Humphries of
her book of the same title. Hans Schleger was a key figure in the
history of design. Born in Germany, into a Jewish family at the
end of the nineteenth century, Schleger began his career in
Berlin. In 1924 he went to New York and was one of a handful of
European émigré artists who brought the Modernist approach to
American advertising. Returning to Berlin in 1929, he worked for
an English advertising agency, emigrating to England in 1933, and
working in London until his death in 1976.
